A message from the Board of Directors and Staff of the Dundas Museum

We have been watching, listening, and learning. In Canada we have a history that has too often erased the experiences of Black Canadians. There is much work to be done to uncover and tell these stories. At the Dundas Museum and Archives, we acknowledge that museums are not neutral and must actively engage in this process. To do this, we must collect, preserve and share the stories and lived experiences of Black, Indigenous and people of colour in our community. We do not always get this right and will continue to learn. We commit to building relationships, learning from, and collaborating with people of colour in the telling of their stories. Here at the Dundas Museum, we promise to be a welcoming, accessible, and safe space for everyone. Black lives matter.
