Dundas Museum & Archives celebrates seven decades of impact with new exhibition

Yesterday, the Dundas Museum & Archives held an opening reception for its newest feature exhibition, celebrating the museum’s 70th Anniversary.

The Dundas Museum & Archives first opened its doors on April 21, 1956. For the last 70 years the DM+A has been passionately collecting, sharing, and preserving local stories and artifacts entrusted to it by the community. To celebrate this milestone, the DM+A assembled a new exhibition in tandem with over 75 Dundasians.

Involved parties included volunteers, residents, small business owners, nonprofit organizations, and elected officials for all levels of government. Each participant was given the opportunity to tour the museum and collections vault to select an artifact and provide insight into their choice.

chose items in advance from the museum vault, a rare opportunity bringing museum professionals and the community closer. Food was donated by Circle of Life, and drinks courtesy of Shawn & Ed Brewing Company.

Celebrations of Dundas pride are nothing new to the Valley Town, and this was certainly one the community won’t soon forget. You can see this wonder of Dundas treasures and stories on display at the museum from April 24th to September 13th. As always, admission to the Dundas Museum & Archives is free of charge, with donations gratefully received.
