What does the job entail?
The Dundas Museum & Archives is committed to providing access to our archival records through various digital platforms. You will help us work toward this goal by assisting in the development of the Museum’s “Discover Your Historical Dundas” interactive mapping site; scanning and digitizing negatives and large format photographs; and assisting in the re-organization of shelf space in the collections storage area.  You will also greet visitors to the Museum and assist with archival inquiries. The Archives Technician is a valued member of the staff team of this dynamic community museum. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in the operations of a museum and archives.

What qualifications and skills are necessary?
You must be a college or university student with Young Canada Works eligibility prior to hiring with the following:

– A student currently in or entering a university or college archives, museum or library studies program. Students in undergraduate programs majoring in history or social sciences will also be considered.

– Superior attention to detail and ability to work independently is essential.
– Previous experience working in an archives, museum or library environment is an asset.

– Proficiency in MS word, excel, Photoshop and scanning applications is an asset.

– Strong organizational, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

– Fluency in English.
