PROGRAMS
Memories Trunk
Can an object evoke memories? In this workshop, participants explore the connection between historical artifacts and memory. Each artifact—drawn directly from our vault—tells a story about the past that encourages participants to share their own memories.
ArtiFact or Fiction
In this fun-filled session, participants are presented with two descriptions—one factual and one fictional—of obscure artifacts from our collection. Can you guess which is fact and which is fiction? This is an engaging way to learn about the past for both history buffs and casual observers alike!
Dundas History Book Club
Over three sessions, participants will read and discuss a common book on the history of Dundas. Possible titles include, among others, Allan Duffin’s The Dundas Chronicles (2024), Olive Newcombe’s Picturesque Dundas, Revisited (1997), and Kerry McNamara’s Historical Dundas (2015) and More Historical Dundas (2019). Each session allows plenty of time for participants to share their own reminiscences.
In Case You Missed It: Past Exhibits in 3D
Experience past Museum exhibits in 3D! These include The Ragin’ Canawl (2024), Valley of the Dolls (2023), Dundas Glass Negative Photography, 1850-1930 (2022), Dundas 175: What Dundas Means to Me (2022), Leading Ladies: Early Dundas Women’s Groups (2022), All Roads Lead to Dundas (2021), and I Spy Dundas (2020-21). Each exhibit includes easily legible panels and optional live commentary by a Museum interpreter.
Dundas Street View
This program provides a walking tour of Dundas for outdoor and indoor use. It uses the latest technology from Google Maps and the history stored at the Dundas Museum & Archives to provide participants with information on the historic buildings of Dundas. The walking tour can take place at the Museum or at the residence, based on the availability of technology (projector).
Custom Programming
If you don’t see a preexisting program that appeals to you, contact us for your custom programming needs. We’re always happy to discuss your ideas, whether they be related to gardening, music, painting, arts and crafts, or your very own pop-up museum!
