Now Open! "Aquientor: Reconstructing the Forgotten Armour of precolonial Iroquoians"
Our current Community Curator exhibition features reconstructed Iroquoian weapons and wooden armour made by Malcolm Kahyonhakonh Powless-Lynes, whose research into the precolonial material culture of the eastern woodlands pushes back against the common conceptions of Indigenous warfare.
The Ragin' Canawl - Now in French!
The Dundas Museum and Archives is excited to announce a new partnership with the Centre Francophone Hamilton, an organization that “welcomes all lovers of the French language” and aims to foster community between “Francophones and Francophiles in the greater Hamilton area.”
The partnership includes a biweekly intermediate/advanced French conversation circle held at the Dundas Museum and Archives on Tuesday evenings. These sessions are led by Hamilton historian Dr. Maxime Dagenais, with registration found on the CFH website (cfhamilton.ca/cercles-de-conversation). The partnership also includes a French translation of the Dundas Museum and Archives’ exhibitions, starting with our current Feature Exhibition, “The Ragin’ Canawl”: An Authentic History of the Desjardins Canal and the Port of Dundas, making the exhibit text accessible in both French and English.
Visitors wishing to experience the new exhibition in French can access the translation in three ways: using the PDF provided on our website here, using the QR code provided in the galleries, or asking for a hard copy of the text at the reception desk.
